The Great Victoria Desert

I am learning to make a slideshow on my "Desert Habitat's" Activity
I am so proud of being able to make this presentation because it helps with my learning on deserts in the world.
I found the research tricky because it was hard to find all of the information and put it in to our own words.
I found it better working with Jackson because he could help me if I made a mistake.
My next steps are to make a presentation but more interesting and get more facts.

Anzac Landing Recount

 The Smell of Fear
It’s 2:45 am on the 25th April 1915.

Right now I’m shaking like an endless earthquake. I was petrified because I felt like I was going to die slowly.  I watched other soldiers die all around me from the deadly bullets flying down on us all.

All of a sudden the moon slowly dipped behind the clouds. It’s pitch black.
All I can see and hear is the sound of the waves and soldiers nervously whispering. I’m excited.

Suddenly I heard a massive BANG! One of our soldiers shot his own gun.  We were now exposed to the Turks.

From there on I knew I was about to die.

Screen Shot 2014-09-23 at 9.41.45 AM.png

As part of  our Inquiry work on Peaceful Communities we have been  learning about World Peace Day  on September 21st. On Friday 19th September we held a Taster Shared Lunch with Rooms  19 and 22. We  had to bring in a small sample of a food that we might eat at home as a family favourite  or a food from our culture.  This helps us to learn about each other’s cultures and about tolerance of others.

Percentages and Fractions Problem Solving

Problem Solving Task

I am learning to solve problems by using my understanding of the equivalence between percentages and fractions.

50% of the class= 15 because there are 30 people in the class so 15 of them are girls.

20% of the girls (15)= 3, so girls have short hair so 15-3=12 so 12 girls have long hair.
Percentages and Fractions Reflection

Live, Work and Play Safely” by Heather Hammonds

Think about an activity that you do, or a sporting activity you belong to and make a list of the rules that members need to follow.  For each rule, briefly explain why this rule has been put in place.

The Rule is …..

My Speech

Why Video Games Are Good For You

Introduction:

Minecraft, Pokemon and Lego Batman, these are all Video games that a lot of people play, these games can also help you and not be as bad as a lot of people say. Hi my name is Nicholas and I am going to give you three reasons why videogames are good for you, these points include better eyesight, help sick and hurt people and can help you Mentally.

Point 1:
My first point is it can improve your eyesight, In the 2009 study, expert action gamers played first-person shooter games like “Unreal Tournament 2004” and “Call of Duty” while others play “The Sims 2”. Those playing “Shoot-’em  up games” saw a big boost in their “sensitivity function”
or ability to notice small changes in brightness of an image. The study’s authors believe that the process of locating or aiming at enemies actually exercised gamers' eyes, improving their vision.

Point 2:
My second point is that video games can help sick and injured people, in 2010, scientists found that when people are in pain, if they play games on the xbox kinect and the nintendo wii they feel less pain as they are distracted by the game they are playing. Video games can also help kids with dyslexia, dyslexia is when you get letters muddled around in words. Researchers found that kids playing action games such as Rayman Raving Rabbids, they can read a lot faster and not get the letters wrong as much as they would before.

Point 3:
My final point is that video games can help you mentally, researchers got 72 people to play two different games one was starcraft, a strategy game the other is sims a real life simulation game. after a week the people playing the games did some tests before and after the week, the people playing starcraft got higher results than the people playing sims.

Conclusion:
So as you can see video games can help you in a lot of ways from helping sick people to making you smarter, and better eyesight, so next time someone tells you that video games are bad for them you can tell them these
reasons why they aren't but are actually good. Thank you for listening.
